Time zones
Planning calls between Australia and India.
Australia's daylight saving runs in the southern summer, opposite to Europe and North America. A 7pm call in Sydney is 1:30pm in India from October to April, and 2:30pm for the rest of the year.
| Where you are | India (IST, UTC+5:30) |
|---|---|
| Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra (daylight saving, October–April) | India is 5h30 behind |
| Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra (standard time, April–October) | India is 4h30 behind |
| Brisbane (no daylight saving) | India is 4h30 behind, all year |
| Adelaide | India is 4h behind (5h in daylight saving) |
| Perth | India is 2h30 behind, all year |
The easiest time difference for family calls
Unlike searches from the Americas, a search from Australia rarely needs anyone to be awake at an unreasonable hour. An evening call in Sydney or Melbourne lands in the afternoon in India, so parents and the person searching can join the same conversation comfortably.
It also means feedback can happen the same day. After a Saturday meeting, we can speak with you that evening and with the other person's family in India before their day ends.
Searches across Australia and India
We agree the scope at the start: someone in your city, elsewhere in the country, in India, or a combination. Signature covers up to three cities or countries. If you are comparing Indian matchmakers in Sydney or Melbourne, ask how each one verifies people and involves families across two countries.
Meeting across long distances
Sydney to Perth is a flight of four to five hours, so we never assume that two people in the same country are close to each other. Introductions begin on video, and meetings in person are planned when one person is travelling anyway: for work, for family, or for a trip to India over the summer holidays.
Sydney and Melbourne are about an hour and a half apart by air, so introductions between those two cities can move to a meeting in person more quickly.
Verification, including residency
We verify identity, education, current work and marital status for everyone we introduce, and where it matters their residency or visa status. We check again before each introduction.
If someone's visa is tied to an employer or a course, we ask what they plan to do when it ends, because that affects where a couple could live.
If you came to study and stayed
Many Indians in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide first arrived as students. By the time marriage is on their mind, some are citizens, some are permanent residents and some are still on a temporary visa. Each is a different starting point for a couple, so we discuss status openly at the start and verify it, with consent, for everyone we introduce.
We are not migration agents or lawyers and do not give visa advice. If a partner visa is likely to be part of your plans, speak to a registered migration agent or a lawyer early, and we will time introductions around their advice.

Questions
Questions from Australia
Do you work with Indians across Australia?
Yes, by phone and video, in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and beyond, including regional towns. Where you live makes no difference to how we work with you, and we schedule in your local time first.
When is the best time for family calls with India?
Usually your evening, which is India's afternoon: a 7pm call in Sydney is 1:30pm or 2:30pm in India depending on the season. Perth is only two and a half hours ahead of India.
Can introductions include someone in India?
Yes, if you want that. We agree the scope at the start; Signature covers up to three cities or countries.
Do you verify visa or residency status?
Where it matters to the search, yes, with consent, alongside identity, education, current work and marital status.
Does Brisbane's lack of daylight saving change anything?
Only the scheduling. Brisbane stays 4h30 ahead of India all year, while Sydney and Melbourne move between 4h30 and 5h30. We book each call in your local time, so you never need to work it out.
I live in Perth. Will introductions be limited to Perth?
No. We agree the scope at the start: Perth, another city, India, or a combination. Signature covers up to three cities or countries, and Perth's two-and-a-half-hour gap with India makes family calls especially easy.
