Time zones

Planning calls between the USA and India.

India does not use daylight saving, so the gap changes when US clocks change in March and November. An 8am call in New York is 5:30pm in India (6:30pm in US winter); an 8pm call in California is the next morning in India.

One search, two continents

Many US searches begin with parents in India who want to help, and a son or daughter in America who wants to lead. We make that work: you speak with us in your time, your parents join the conversations you choose, and everyone receives the updates you agree. If you are comparing Indian matchmakers in the US, ask each one how they handle that split, because it shapes everything that follows.

We agree the scope at the start: someone in the US, someone in India open to moving, or both. Signature covers up to three cities or countries, so a search can include, say, the Bay Area, New York and Bengaluru.

The Bay Area and New York–New Jersey

In the San Francisco Bay Area, many Indian professionals are engineers, founders and product leaders, often on an H-1B visa or partway through a green card process that can take many years. Status shapes plans, so we discuss it early and introduce people whose timelines fit. On Pacific time, an evening call in California is the next morning in India, which suits parents well.

Around New York and New Jersey, careers in finance, medicine, law and consulting mean long weeks and little room for a dating circuit. We treat the city and its New Jersey suburbs as one search area, keep introductions few and prepared, and plan first meetings for a weekday evening or a quiet weekend morning.

An arranged introduction, the way it works now

Searches for an arranged marriage in the USA today rarely mean what they meant a generation ago. Parents in India want to help; a son or daughter in America wants to choose. We run it as an introduction the family can be part of and the person searching decides on: nobody meets anyone they have not agreed to meet, and either person can stop at any point without explanation.

Fitting calls into an American week

On the East Coast, a weekend morning is usually the easiest time for a call that includes parents in India, because it is already evening there. On the West Coast, an evening call reaches India the next morning, which suits families who start their day early.

We work around your calendar, travel and on-call weeks, and we keep calls short. Feedback after an introduction can be a ten-minute call on your commute.

Verification across borders

Alongside identity, education, current work and marital status, we verify where each person lives today and, where it matters, their visa or residency status. These details shape where a couple can build a life, so they belong in the conversation early.

If you are thinking of moving back to India

Some people in the US are open to returning to India in the next few years; others are settled for good. Both are fine, but they lead to different searches, so we ask early, and we ask everyone we introduce the same question.

If a return is likely, the search can include the Indian city you would move to, and we are open about timing with the people we introduce. A plan to move back in five years is a very different conversation from a plan to move next spring.

First meetings across the distance

Most introductions begin with one or more video conversations. In-person meetings are then planned around travel: within the US, or around a visit to India. We never rush that step.

Legal and practical questions

A cross-border marriage raises questions about where to register the marriage and how spouse visas work. We are matchmakers, not lawyers, and do not give legal or immigration advice; we help you plan the timing and point you to independent professionals.

Questions

Questions from the USA

Do you work with NRIs anywhere in the US?

Yes. We work by phone and video, so your state does not matter. We schedule in your local time first, whether you are on the East Coast, in the Midwest or on the West Coast.

Can my parents in India be part of the search?

Yes. Many US searches begin with parents in India. We bring both generations onto the same video calls and agree who receives which updates, while the person searching keeps the final word.

Will you introduce people in India as well as the US?

If you want that, yes. We agree the scope at the start. Signature covers up to three cities or countries, so a search can span the US and India.

Do you verify visa or green card status?

Where it matters to the search, we verify residency or visa status with each person's consent, alongside identity, education, work and marital status.

Can you advise on H-1B, green card or spouse visa questions?

No. We are not lawyers. We verify current status where it matters to the search, point you to independent immigration attorneys, and plan introductions around their advice.
