How much does an elite matchmaker cost in India?
By Deepesh Patel, Co-founder and Lead Matchmaker · Published 11 October 2026 · Last reviewed 11 October 2026
Matchmaking fees in India vary more than almost any other personal service, because the word "matchmaker" covers everything from an assisted matrimony subscription to a founder-led private search. The figures below are the published prices we could verify as of 1 October 2026, with their sources and their limits.
What do Indian matchmakers charge?
Published prices fall into three broad bands. The largest elite service publishes a full ladder; a few small firms self-publish much higher prices; and some well-known names have only reported or unconfirmed fees.
| EliteMatrimony | ₹50,000 (3 months) to ₹10,00,000 (till you marry), by tier [1] |
|---|---|
| Ultra Rich Match | ₹18,000–₹1,20,000 plus a success fee from ₹88,000 (reported 2019) [2] |
| Priya Shah The Matchmaker | ₹7 lakh–₹3 crore, tiered by 'family class' (self-published) [3] |
| The Elite Matchmaker | ₹15 lakh–₹1 crore, non-refundable (self-published) [5] |
| Sima Taparia | Reported ₹1–5 lakh; not confirmed by her [4] |
Two cautions. First, EliteMatrimony's higher tiers are sorted by a client's net worth, not by the depth of the search [1]. Second, the prices above ₹15 lakh come from small firms whose results we could not verify independently [3][5].
How do Indian prices compare with the United States?
Leading US firms charge far more. Kelleher International has been reported at $30,000 to $300,000 a year [6]; Selective Search at a $50,000 minimum [7]; and one US matchmaker at $10,000 to $75,000 a month, with a three-month minimum [8]. Many online "how much does a matchmaker cost" guides are published by matchmakers themselves, so treat their ranges as marketing rather than market data.
What drives the cost of a matchmaker?
Price usually tracks four things:
- Term: three months, a year, or "until alliance".
- Introductions: how many vetted introductions are promised, and whether that number is written into the contract.
- Geography: one city, several cities, or a search across countries for NRI families.
- Involvement: whether a senior matchmaker or founder runs the search personally, and whether family meetings are arranged.
A fair price page sorts by these, not by how wealthy a client or family is.
How do you judge whether a matchmaker is worth it?
Ask five questions before you pay: How many introductions are guaranteed in writing? How is each person verified? Who actually runs my search? What happens if the minimum is not met? What are the refund and pause terms? A matchmaker who answers all five clearly is easier to judge than one who only quotes a price.
